Phantom Wasteland

The Phantom Wasteland is a vast barren area surrounding the tower of N'Erud's core, and serves as the first overworld of the "Core" storyline.

Description[edit | edit source]

Upon leaving Seeker's Rest, the Traveler will find themselves in the Phantom Wasteland. The area is surrounded by a lethal fog, as with all overworlds on N'eurd. The skyline will be dominated by two massive towers, a taller one in the distance, and a smaller statue-like structure closer to the left. The latter is what the voice in Seeker's Rest requested the Traveler to seek out—the Ascension Spire, which will always be the point of interest for the Phantom Wasteland.

Roughly halfway along the path towards the spire, the entrance to a random side dungeon can be found.

In the Ascension Spire, the Custodian—the owner of the voice in Seeker's Rest—can be met. It requests that the Traveler seek out several keys scattered across N'Erud, in order to access the core tower.

The tower in question, Sentinel's Keep, is the taller one located in the north of the area, with the world stone Threshold of the Unknown located nearby. The gate is of course still locked, missing three of the five Seeker's Keys.

One key has already been acquired in Seeker's Rest. A second will be found in the boss dungeon of the area, located east of the Ascension Spire—completing it will also lead into the Timeless Horizon.
