Fae Scion

Fae Scions are Fae mages twisted into a monstrous shape by the twining of worlds.

Behavior[edit | edit source]

Fae Scions prefer to keep at range, spreading FAERIE FIRE through several of attacks. From their lanterns they can send an arcing projectile, which bursts into a lingering fire. Sometimes they rear up and spew a stream of bile, leaving CORROSIVE puddles of acid. The acid ignites with FAERIE FIRE if it comes into contact with other fire hazards and BURNING creatures. If the Scion itself is burning, its acid will ignite immediately.
The final ranged attack is a projectile from their staff, which knocks down targets.

They are not above charging into melee when they see an opportunity. When a Scion spots a prone target, it rears up and rushes at them, initiating a Grab Attack. Failing to complete the quick time event will instantly kill the Traveler, bypassing the downed state and any revive effects. Successfully fending them off is however rewarded with damaging the Scion for roughly 13.5% of its max health.

Their only other melee attack is a wide swipe with its staff. Although it knocks down targets, its extended windup sees it used more as a means to get space.

In addition to higher resistances against CORROSIVE damage, Fae Scions are completely immune to the CORRODED status effect.

After a while, the Scion may throw its lantern, creating a large patch of FAERIE FIRE. Alternatively, the Traveler may shatter it—it looses its armor every time the Scion casts magic, and breaks if directly damaged for 5% of the Scions maximum health during these periods. Doing so burns the Scion with 10s of FAERIE FIRE.
Without the lantern the Scion will prefer to use its knockdown projectile and grab attack, ceasing to use both fire balls and bile.

On death, the Scion will sometimes land on its back, spewing a geysir of bile into the air, inflicting CORRODED on anything hit.
