The juvenile Space Crabs are encountered deep in Infected N'Erud.

They are incredibly fragile and lack a directly damaging attack. Instead they jump to latch onto the Traveler.

While attached, a crab adds 20 Weight and builds ~5.9% Contamination per second. Once filled, the Traveler suffers a chunk of damage, and the bar resets.

A single uninterrupted crab fills the bar in ~17s. Although visually similar to a Blight, this build up is unaffected by Blight Resistance.

The creatures immense fragility means they die to any damage, and they can even be killed by simply dodging over them. This also counts for attached crabs.
