The Custodian's Eye is a boss in N'Erud, found in the Spectrum Nexus. It combines armaments of both lesser Custodian Eye variants.

Behavior[edit | edit source]

The Custodian's Eye combines the armaments of both the weaker models. The arena it is fought in consists of hexagonal segments, which can raise up or descend to change the battlefield.

At the start of the fight, it will employ two types of beams from its central eye:

  • The first is a red beam sweeping from left to right and vice versa. During this, several arena segments will raise to form cover, with new cover for each sweep.
  • The other is a volatile purple beam, placing a continous line of delayed energy bombs anywhere it impacts. All cover will sink into the ground. The beam will travel in a straight line, periodically being adjusted into the direction of the Traveler.

At 90% health, the Custodian's Eye will gain the ability to deploy three small drones, which will harass the Traveler during the Eye's other attacks.
After roughly 18s, the Custodian's Eye emits an energy wave, causing any remaining drones to drop to the ground and emit a damaging SHOCK field for 10s, after which they self-destruct. Destroying a drone removes its field early.

Once its health falls down to 70%, the Eye will occasionally move towards the center of the arena and face downwards, having gained access to abilities that massively alter the terrain of the arena—alternating between two variants:

  • The first version has most floor segments glowing red before rapidly descending, with only a gapped outer ring remaining at normal height. The Eye will also descend, and rotate three red beams across the remaining platforms. The Traveler must either dodge through the beams on the narrow space, or jump over the gaps to avoid them entirely. Falling from the platforms or failing to reach them in the first place causes fall damage. On the lower level, the Traveler will be harassed by three small drones, while having to avoid explosions on of the floor in random patterns.
    • As the Eye's health is further depleted, some sections of the platforms will raise, forming obstacles or even impassable sections.
  • The second variant has the Eye remain high above the arena. The floor will descend in a stair pattern from the outside towards the center. The Eye will emit three blue beams, which will continously track the Traveler.

At 50% the sweeping red beam will be replaced by a barrage of blue projectiles. During this attack, every few moments different sections of the arena will raise as cover of differing height, forcing the Traveler to weave in between. Although strafing to one side easily avoid the fire, dodging through the barrage into the other direction is difficult at best, further incentivizing the use of cover.
