Behavior[edit | edit source]

Unlike most Elites, the Root Hunter will often appear from directions the Traveler already explored, approaching from behind.

Once it reaches medium distance, it rushes at its target. This will always be followed by an outward slice, which it can also use during its normal attacks.
The inverse, an inward slice, has slightly longer wind up.

Its third base attack has it slam its sickles into the ground one after the other. Its flexible tendrils allow it to adjust the reach of the second hit, potentially requiring a second dodge.

Finally, it can target foes behind it with a quick diagonal turn strike.

Regenerative Fission[edit | edit source]

At one third of its health, it will stagger, becoming immune to damage for a moment and teleporting to a nearby location. There, it will envelop itself in a glowing sphere, healing 50% of its health over 6s. If not killed in that period, a second Hunter with full health splits off.

As long as a pair is on the field, neither will regenerate again, though they will teleport around the vicinity if low on health.
If the clone is killed, its progenitor will be able to spawn another once it reaches 33% health again. If it is the progenitor that is killed however, after roughly 8s the clone will lose all health above about 27% (or if below that threshold, take 10% max health as damage). This will immediately place it in range to regenerate itself, potentially becoming progenitor to a clone of its own.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Only the original Root Hunter will reward materials. The clones will only drop ammunition.
