The Burrowing Root Infected are a stronger variant of the Root Infected, found across the Jungles of Yaesha. They can be told apart from their kin by their smooth mask-like heads and the thorns adorning their body.

Behavior

A Burrowing Root Infected shares the same melee attacks as the weaker version, either slamming their head into the ground or swiping with their tail.

Instead of a projectile attack however, they begin to burrow and thrash, sending their thorns flying at targets. The thorns embed themselves into the environment, and will detonate after some time—or if a foe comes near. Their explosions leave clouds of ROOT ROT.
